Update on safe crossings along Queen Elizabeth Drive and Colonel By Drive
The following information was provided by the NCC:
“As part of the NCC’s efforts to improve the level of comfort of pedestrians crossing the parkways, which included the Rideau Canal Corridor Pedestrian Crossings Study completed in 2011 and community consultations held in 2010, I can confirm that the NCC will be moving forward with planned improvements at Queen Elizabeth Drive and 5th avenue. We hope to complete the necessary works this year to coincide with the opening of Landsdowne. We have completed work on the first priority crossing at Hartwell Locks.
The crossing at Colonel By and Clegg St. will be the next one to be completed, as soon as funds are available. It is important to note that we are advancing the crossing improvements separately from the footbridge project, while also ensuring that we work closely with the City of Ottawa to align planned future design and construction.”
