EnviroCentre Announcement: Au Coeur d’Ottawa joins School Active Transportation program

Dear Old Ottawa East Community Association,

EnviroCentre is happy to announce that École élémentaire catholique Au Coeur d’Ottawa has joined the School Active Transportation program, which encourages children to walk or wheel to school more often.

The new School Active Transportation committee at Au Coeur d’Ottawa will work with municipal and school board staff to improve safety around the school and to calm the traffic, especially during school start and end times.

Over the next few years, Au Coeur d’Ottawa students will learn pedestrian safety skills and participate in events like International Walk to School Day in October. Walking or wheeling regularly to school improves physical and mental health and has been proven to enhance learning.

EnviroCentre is pleased to deliver the program on behalf of the City of Ottawa. Over forty elementary schools have participated in the program in Ottawa since it started in 2010.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Warm regards,

Dzifa Binka (she/her)
