Resident concerns about street racing, speeding shared with Community Liaison
I emailed our police liaison officer Constable J. Kennedy regarding concerns from residents about speeding and stunt racing in Old Ottawa East on side streets.
- Oblats Avenue was mentioned due to car and construction vehicles speeding.
- Marlowe Avenue is also an ongoing concern.
Tom Scott reports there continues to be noise disturbances near Kings Landing due to stunt driving by cars and motorcycles jumping curbs on Colonel By Drive and Concord to Echo, Tom has been addressing these issues with the Ministry of Transportation for several years and has been communicating with several city departments about this, thank you Tom.
Constable Kennedy replied with the following information:
Our traffic unit has also done enforcement in other areas for stunt driving. If there are enough reports being submitted, it may lead to another project in the area.
File a report – Traffic complaints
The Ottawa Police encourage residents to submit traffic complaints by filing a report. Visit their website and access the tile, Traffic complaint, to file a report:
Flex poles have also been installed along Oblats Avenue in front of the Convent to delineate a walking and bike path. The flex poles discourage drivers from making U-turns along the street.
