Rideau River Nature Trail (RRNT) Project – Zoning By-Law correction
Paul Goodkey, OOECA resident and Planning committee member flagged concern to OOECA re: SLOE Rideau River Nature Trail proposal – 2024-Dec, specifically the SLOE_Map_Rideau-River-Nature-Trail-Ideas.pdf
- Whereas this trail map depicts a continuous Parks and Open Space (O1) along the entire western shore of the Rideau River, according to the current and proposed New Zoning By-law, that is not the case.
- Per the current ZBL – see attached – there is an approx. 125 m long strip south of Brantwood Park which is zoned R1MM; and there is an approx. 200 m long and larger area running both sides of and under the Smyth Road bridge, which are zoned R3L or R3B.
- Per the Draft 1 New ZBL – see attached – the zoning is proposed to be either N3B and MS1, notwithstanding most of these areas are in the floodplains.
Recommendation
That OOECA request the Councillor have this corrected by way of an Omnibus ZBL amendment. The Rideau River Nature Trail needs these lands to be zoned O1.
